Make sure to remove the seal from the old filter if it doesn't come off with the filter itself. You don't "need" the wrench, but it makes it a lot easier if the old filter is on super-tight. Yours should take about 3.3 qts (that's what mine takes). Like Rowdy said, make sure that old gasket comes off with the filter. Marty has hit the nail on the head Marty's comments about changing the oil is the same experience that I had. After the first service my GSX-S had a horrible gear change and it was hard to find neutral. I changed to Fuchs oil and it was all sweet again. Oils ain't oils. It's probably time to do the clutch adjustment in the motor as well. Find and hold the “Select/Reset” button down for ten seconds. Watch for the oil change light to start blinking. When it starts blinking, release the button then press it back down for another 10 seconds until it reads 100%. For some displays you may need to select the “Info” button to enter reset mode.
